Discriminatory Background Investigation Incident


It was discovered in June 1998 that private detective agencies in Osaka had conducted investigations into the backgrounds of job applicants to find out if they were from Buraku areas. Their clients consisted of over 1,400 Private companies. They investigated into a wide range of background information including the individual's family background, their thoughts and beliefs, their religion, ethnic origin and many more such things, and then informed more than 700 clients of their findings. This was as malicious as the "Buraku lists "incidents.
