Discrimination in Japan from the Perspective of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
We are pleased to announce that the Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute has just published a book titled "Discrimination in Japan from the Perspective of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights."
In reaction to the Japanese Government's Fourth Periodic Report submitted to the UN Human Rights Committee, the Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute has published this book as a counter report from the view point of non-governmental organizations and human rights experts in Japan, regarding discrimination against Buraku people, Korean residents, other foreign residents (New Comers), women, persons with disabilities, and Ainu people.
We published the counter report both in Japanese and English, as was the Third Periodic Report. This will raise challenges against what the Japanese Government has reported in its report, but also constitute sort of a "White Paper on Discrimination".
