Reality of Buraku Discrimination in Japan

History, Situation, Challenge

The Children's Association for Buraku Liberation

Efforts to improve the educational conditions for Buraku children began with the campaign to eliminate the problems of their non-enrolment and long-term absence. Supplementary classes have been initiated in order to improve their level of educational achievement. Through the activities of programs such as these, the Buraku liberation movement is trying to educate children to be conscious of their human rights and not to yield to discrimination.
