Reality of Buraku Discrimination in Japan

History,Situation,Challenge

The Literacy Movement

In the past, many Buraku people have been deprived of the opportunity to learn how to read and write. Through the literacy program, however, people have learned how to read and write and how to express themselves in Writing. The literacy program has also helped them understand the real meaning of Buraku discrimination. Today, literacy classes are also held in many parts of Japan for foreign migrant workers.
