Reality of Buraku Discrimination in Japan

History, Situation, Challenge

Korean Ethnic School

During Japan's colonial rule over the Korean peninsula for 36 years, many Korean people had no option but to settle in Japan. Today, the Korean population of Japan, including those who have obtained Japanese nationality, has nearly reached one million. It is important for these people to give their children the opportunity to learn Korean language and culture at Korean ethnic schools and classes. This photo shows students at a Korean school in Osaka prefecture.
