Reality of Buraku Discrimination in Japan

History, Situation, Challenge

Conditions of Undesignated Buraku Community 3

On the right hand side of this photo is a drain that waste water and rain water used to flow in. Due to housing development in the adjoining land, the level of the river bed sank, which produced a gap between the communities. As a result of this, water no longer flowed into the drain in the Buraku area and this caused water Stagnation. The municipal constructed a simple dyke as a response to complaints from residents. This photo shows the same community as the previous picture.
